I'm listening to your Suggestions.

I have been listening and I will be making some changes to the surfing experience at BlogSoldiers. The first thing I'm going to do is remove the small surf frame, the one that has the letter hunt game on it. The letter hunt game is still going to be available, it will just be moved to the large part of the frame.

I will also be adding a few new features to the surfing frame, I'm not sure exactly as I have just put my programmer on the job today, but I will be adding a Do Not View Again, and/or a Skip Blog feature. These two have been the most suggested features and I think they will be a very good addition to the surfing experience.

Remember, I am here to make your surfing experience a good one so if you have any feature suggestions, please send me an email. Keep in mind I can't use all suggestions as some are just not feasible and would be very hard to implement. However, I take every suggestion seriously because you guys are the ones that do the surfing and your opinions count the most.

Thanks for the great suggestions. Keep em coming. and also Keep Surfing!

Jim,

Though I would love to have a Do Not View Again option, I wonder if it makes sense. Since BlogSoldiers went live, the hits I'm getting has gone down by about 50%, even though many more people have joined up. This means that more people are viewing my blog, but are viewing it less often. So far, this is a wash, since I only read the same posts once and just skip them the second (or more) time they come around. I'm more interested in gaining a wider audience, so having more people view with less repetition is a good thing.

On the other hand, now that I've gone all the way through one cycle of the letter hunt and am back at "newbie" again, I have a stockpile of almost 800 credits. As I was achieving this goal last night, I kept hitting the same blogs again and again. I wonder what the temptation would have been to click "skip" or "do not view again" under these circumstances.

There are definitely blogs I don't wish to see, but I wonder if, given the number of people who actually seem to have active credits at any given time, having this feature will help or hinder. I know were I to notice that I was only getting 50 hits per week, let's say, I'd stop surfing on BlogSoldiers all together. Especially with the stockpile of credits. Also, were I to ever consider buying credits, I wouldn't do so if those credits weren't going to give my blog exposure because people simply chose not to view it.

I'm not saying that the idea is a bad one, I'm just throwing up some possible cautions. I know that, as I look at my referrals, you must have over 200 blogs registered now (probably well over), which is great. As it is, I only ever see about 25 of those in any particular searching session. The rest are all repeats. Perhaps, as more people surf and have active credits, allowing me to view a wider sample of blogs, this idea will work out well.

Would it be worthwhile to put the idea up for a vote among the membership? And if the vote passes, to give the idea trial run before making it a permanent feature?

Just some thoughts.

argh! I realized I called you Jim, rather than Pat. My apologies. I can read, I promise.

Thank you for adding the Do Not View / Skip feature. I understand lc's point, but there are some blogs that appear over and over again with offensive-to-me material (and it is actually pretty hard to offend me) which I just don't want to spend 20 seconds viewing multiple times per day.

Also, perhaps the frame change will fix my BlogSoldiers experience. I'll try again when it's implemented.

Hehe, Jim is BlogXchange. ;)

I went through the ranks and am back to newbie. Anything in the works?
Peace..........

WELCOME!

Would it be possible to post somewhere obviously how the referalls work? what are 2nd level referalls worth, etc?

Pat,

all the banner images appear as broken links.

Hi Pat;

On the surfbar, there should be a spot that indicates the number of Blogs that I have viewed today, and the total number of credits earned.

I'm relatively new to BlogSoldiers, so this feature may already be there. I've probably just not seen it.

Awesome work though!

I hate having to login every time. I'd rather be remembered.

thanks for your service

How about a credit earning game? A Blog Bingo or something... that'd be fun. Hunt for certain things, so it's more manual than the automatic credit earning contests that traffic exchanges offer.

Cheers!

Seeing the same sites, sometimes 10 times in a row is very annoying, I don't mind viewing them, but cut it once per day.

I have been getting some Java Script message while surfing. Click OK, it comes back - click cancel it comes back. I can't get rid of it and have to shut down. It only happens on Blog Soldiers. Any ideas? My sister is having the same problem with this site only.
Peace...........
